About the Captain
Your captain is Coast Guard licensed and an experienced instructor with ten years teaching experience at Mathews High School. In addition he has served as director for a local sailing camp. We have a small fleet of boats besides Xanadu, and also offer sailing lessons. Two of the boats, a Penobscot 14 and a Paper Jet 14, were built here at Mobjack Sailing by Captain Johnny. If you are interested in sailing lessons give us a call. Each lesson is two hours and teaches you the basics of sail handling, raising sail, points of sail steering, and boat handling. The cost is $85 per lesson, ages 9 and up. You will receive a sailing manual, "Start Sailing Right" while taking lessons.
The Miss Amy
The Miss Amy is a Penobscot 14 built by Capt. Johnny last winter, a light, open daysailer, with a lug sail rig. Fast and responsive.
Briar Patch
Briar Patch is a daysailer/weekender designed by Carl Alberg; she is a 23 ft. classic sloop, the Briar Patch, a great boat for beginners. Very responsive, yet very stable.
DIXie Chick
DIXie Chick is a Paper Jet 14 designed by Dudley Dix. She is a light planing hull boat built for speed. Pictures of DIXie Chick are on the way.
